With the growing number of Indians in the comedy scene (or any scene in the world, for that matter), a group of comics from the subcontinent present you "Something Spicy Comedy".

After four successful editions in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Haarlem and Utrecht, they are ready to invade the Indian motherland of the Netherlands, Amstelveen, at P60 with their wide range of comedy styles on the 19th of April 2023. Come catch nine upcoming, talented and funny comedians in the Netherlands who also happen to be Indians.

From political, to mental health, to parenting, to sex, to straight forward stereotyping, the audience is sure to leave stuffed and wanting for more. Just like the Indian restaurant you went to last week. 😉

The Line-Up for this evening will consist of:

Your Host, Kuriakose
Kuriakose Vaisian has been doing stand-up for more than five years now, joking about his life, his wife, his family at large, and Jesus Christ. That's a joke of course; he never makes jokes about his wife. He's performed at multiple cities across India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Cochin, alongside some of the biggest names in the Indian comedy scene, such as Kanan Gill, Kenny Sebastian, Naveen Richard and Biswa Kalyan Rath. Kuria has taken part in various comedy competitions including the PayTM Insider Live Mic sessions as well as Comedy Central India's Sterling Reserve Comedy Project with Varun Thakur, in which he finished second.

Kuria's humour is a mix of observational and anecdotal, drawing a lot of inspiration from his own life and the things that happen around him. He's got an easy, laidback style that makes him relatable and accessible, with audiences taking to him the moment he steps on stage.

Arjun Sharma
Arjun is from India and, as per government regulations, an engineer. That hasn't stopped him from blundering through life and into standup & fatherhood. Will work for a kindly glance, a loving word, and money."

Madhu
"My brain tends to make connections that are wildly accurate or wildly biazzare. Exploring comedy in order to understand and express these connections.

Eating Pindakaas and Broodjes out of plastic bags is now my favorite pet peeve."

Ishaan
Ishaan is a comedian from India who has only recently entered the Amsterdam comedy scene. Having been born in Gujarat, a historically significant yet polarized part of India, and living in Europe since the last 7 years, Ishaan has had a chance to interact with a wide variety of people who he shamelessly uses as anecdotes for his funny stories

Archana
Archana has been active in the Netherlands comedy scene for more than 3 years.  Her desire to smash patriarchy, to share immigrant's perspective on the Dutch way of life and her need for validation from strangers is what got her into comedy.

Tanvi
Designer living in Netherlands for almost a decade who spends all her time critically analysing products and then shares ridiculous ideas with pride.

Vasu Arora
Vasu grew up in a North Indian state, known as the UK. But despite that, he chose not to have a British accent.

Firstly, because he wants people to understand him, and secondly, because UK is short for Uttarakhand.

UK is a hilly state, which means Vasu grew up trekking and mountain biking. He loved the hills so much that he moved to the Netherlands.

You got to read some of his jokes without him delivering them. Because his delivery style doesn't really add much value anyway.

In fact, his delivery is so dry that it'll make you wet, so be sure to check him out!

Ram Arangi
Fresh off a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Ram Adithya Arangi is a rising international talent in the European comedy circuit. His independently produced 1 hour comedy show, “The Local Tourist” has sold out across Amsterdam, London, Paris, and Berlin. Ram’s comedy covers tales of growing up as a young immigrant across 5 countries and his observations about life as a “neighbourhood tourist” in 3 continents. Colonialism, Caste, Cricket - his sharp wit and humour derives inspiration from a broad range of topics.

Here’s what audience at Edinburgh Fringe say about Ram’s comedy on the official website:

“Incredibly polished, immediately likeable! Ram dives straight into his storytelling and never lets up. Laughed all the way through”

“His set has a wonderful charm and he has a delightful sense of humour.”

Rashi Agarwal
A newbie to the stand-up comedy scene but not new to cracking jokes, you may know Rashi from her viral TikToks and Reels on everything Dutch culture, desi culture, white ignorance and sexism. A model working in the field of sustainable fashion, who has become more Dutch than she would have liked but still won’t shy away from pointing out that 'broodje kaas' is not ‘lunch’.
