Johnny Cash recorded tracks in heavily guarded prisons and had his own TV show on American television. In the 80’s, it briefly looked like the musical outlaw would be forgotten, but he made a crushing comeback with his legendary American Recordings.
On his records and during his performances, there was always room for spiritual, gospel and American Songbook material. Cash was also not averse to a wonderfully American Christmas atmosphere.
All in all, an excellent opportunity for Def Americans Johnny Cash Tribute to put together a set of songs especially for this show in the dark days before Christmas.
